Canon EOS 5Ds, 5Ds R add second title 2016 Editors Award

TOKYO, May 20, 2016—Canon Inc. and Canon Marketing Japan Inc. announced today that the Firm’s EOS 5Ds and 5Ds R1 digital SLR cameras (started in June 2015) have been honored with the esteemed Camera Grand Prix (GP) Japan 2016 award Editors Award. The accolade marks the second esteemed camera and lens award bestowed on the cameras, adding to the TIPA award received the preceding month.

The Camera Grand Prix (GP) Japan awards, considered one of the most sought after camera and lens product awards in Japan, are organized by the Camera Journal Press Club (CJPC),2 including journalists from important photography and camera magazines in Japan. This year marks the award’s 33rd time to be held. The Camera GP Japan 2016 Editors Award, which was presented to the EOS 5Ds and 5Ds R, is one of four awards presented by the CJPC to chosen excellent photography products and equipment started in Japan in the last year based on such standards as popularity, newsworthiness and initiation.

In April this year, both cameras were given another world-class title—Best DSLR Professional/High Res―by the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA), representing 30 picture and imaging magazines from 15 countries across five continents.
